downhere at Youth Quake

This past weekend we spent a couple of days back up at the birthplace of downhere at Briercrest College in Caronport, Saskatchewan. The event was called Youth Quake, and it's the annual youth retreat that the college hosts. This year (including the college and high-school students already on campus) I think they had about 2100 students attend - it was a great weekend! We arrived later than expected Friday afternoon - the original plan was that we arrive and play a couple of songs in the session that night. However, Air Canada conveniently lost 5 of our bags (we were traveling with 12, so they left nearly half of our bags behind!) so by the time we reported the lost baggage and got to the venue the session had already started.

So Friday night ended up just being a night to (a) get caught up on sleep, and (b) connect briefly with my family (they live in Caronport, so it was great to be able to spend a LITTLE bit of time with them while we were there). Saturday was another full day - soundcheck at 8am, first session at 10:30am, two hour run in the afternoon (on a treadmill - I discovered that "The Italian Job" isn't even 2 hours long!), an afternoonYQ stage
nap, then we played the show Saturday night - STARTING at 10:45pm (here's a picture of what the set looked like). By the time we were done signing everything and in bed all packed, it was 2:30am... and we had to be up at 4am to catch the shuttle to the airport. The specifics this time:

Hours sleep: 1
Next destination: Belfast, Ireland

Let the madness continue...

That explains how you ended up in Ireland without very much sleep. I would have totally collapsed. So did all of the bags eventually arrive? I hope so.

Sounds like a good crowd, even if does seem like you had a very long day.
