Who Is Normal Rockstar?
I'm back. I'm sorry it's been so long... I took a rather impromptu, not-completely-intended hiatus from blogging for the last week and it's been rather nice. I've really just been trying to get reacquainted with my wife this last week since we returned home from an intense 6-day work trip (she travels with me, but that sure doesn't mean we see much of each other each day!), and it's been great.
So when I told her this morning that I needed some time to post a blog, she said, "What are you going to blog about? Why don't you tell them about your life? Don't they want to know who Normal Rockstar is?"
Well - it's rather presumptuous of me to assume that you DO want to know who Normal Rockstar is, but I guess I'll write the post and you can tell me in the comments if you NEVER want a post like this again. This may actually be interesting for some of you as you've recently become readers and haven't really figured out who the guy behind the blog is yet.
Let's start with "Normal".
My name is Jeremy, and I live in the Nashville, TN area. I am Canadian (though I don't say "eh!" for some reason) and have been married to my beautiful Montanan wife Erin for two and a half years. I have been an athlete all my life - I played basketball in high-school and college, graduated with a BA degree in Sports Ministry, and have spent the last few years of my life running - literally. Due to the nature of my work the only exercise I can participate in on a regular basis is running - so I have completed two marathons (the Disney marathon and the Music City Marathon here in Nashville) and am in the midst of preparing to run the Disney marathon again in January. One of my dreams is to complete an Ironman Triathlon - I just haven't figured out how to train appropriately with my travel schedule. My wife and I attend Rolling Hills Community Church (when we're home) and enjoy being a part of that community. I love to travel and see different parts of the world; I enjoy mowing my lawn (but hate doing anything in the flower beds). The only abnormal part of my upbringing is that I grew up in a strong, healthy , God-fearing family in which everyone is married to their original partner, we all still speak to each other on a weekly basis, and we love to be together. [It's sad to me that I am now the minority... but that's for another post.]
I love ice cream... I love outdoorsy stuff... I love to read... and I plan on one day writing a book. I'm also an entrepreneur at heart - I have recently acquired a blogging company called Blogsites.biz and have started building blogs for various individuals and businesses. I enjoy helping people discover how to use the tools and gifts they have. I like big dogs (although Erin and I aren't home enough to have one yet)... I chew Trident gum... and I ALWAYS have four items in my pockets: gum, chapstick, a pen, and a Sharpie.
Does that all sound pretty normal? I hope so. Last I checked (accidentally) I still bleed when I get cut, and if it wasn't for contact lenses I would miss a lot of the beautiful things in this world (if you know of any Lasik doctors who would be willing to give me a discount on treatment in return for some advertising on my blog please let me know!).
"Normal life" to me is very abnormal to 99% of the rest of the population. But there are "normal" elements of my life, and it's times like these that I enjoy reflecting on those and planning for the day when things will get back to... normal.
Tomorrow I'll talk about "Rockstar"... thanks for reading - this was fun for me to do! If I had to choose between "Normal" or "Rockstar", I would take "Normal" any day... so it was fun to reflect on this for a little bit. But blogging time is over for today - time to prepare for an abnormal week as my inlaws are arriving today.

Erin had a great idea--this was so fun to read! I learned a few things about you--like if I'm ever with you and need a Sharpie, I'll be covered. :)

If I could bring my freezer camping with me, so I could have ice cream in the great outdoors (and IF the bears would leave it alone), I would. Made a homemade ice cream cake once, it was so great.
I'm glad you had some nice real time off! But thanks for the blog, too. :)

This was a fun read, even for your Mom. I am so grateful for the good communication we enjoy in our family. Can't wait to read the book!! Love you

I love ice cream, too. But my lack of activity must be why I don't wear it nearly as well as you.

Well, I don't mind getting to hear about you. Although as a reader for awhile (since moving to "The Hill" over a year ago) I knew a lot of those things. But it was nice to see it all put in one place.
Rock on... or rather Normal on...
