Things I Am Thankful For

Canada_thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, America!

My wife and I had our Thanksgiving dinner last night at our place and invited some friends over. Erin did a fantastic job preparing the meal along with a friend and we enjoyed a wonderful evening full of food and games. It was a great day, even if it was a day early. Here is a quick list of SOME of the things I am thankful for in no particular order:

  • a beautiful wife who loves and accepts me despite my weaknesses, flaws, and general hairiness
  • a safe country to live and work in
  • a church and community where I can practice my faith without fear of persecution
  • good health
  • a great job and great people to work with
  • a family (both immediate and extended, including inlaws) that loves each other and enjoys spending time with each other
  • ice cream

What are some things you're thankful for?

Today all of America shuts down and celebrates Thanksgiving. I will be spending most of my day today in planes and airports as Erin and I are traveling up to Montreal to spend the weekend with some of my family. [Even the baggage handlers on the concourse were throwing a football around today while waiting for the planes to arrive - I've NEVER seen that!!]

I discovered something rather interested this Thanksgiving season, although it has to do mostly with Canadian Thanksgiving (yes, Canadians DO celebrate Thanksgiving!). It appears that the tradition has been around in Canada for centuries as well, but it was only in 1957 that the Canadian Parliament proclaimed that 'A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed... to be observed on the second Monday in October.' It is interesting to me that a country that has strayed so far away from anything having to do with 'Almighty God' would have make such a declaration as recently as 1957. But I'm grateful that Canadians still celebrate it, whatever the reason: this means I get a Thanksgiving in October AND November!

what a heart-warming post, Jeremy! it made me say: "Awww!" you and Erin are wonderful. I'm glad you had a nice thanksgiving. love that Canadian turkey picture!!! ha ha!

I echo your sentiments. I am thankful for my wife, baby boy, health, riches (we're all rich compared to 90-something % of the world), friends and family, talent, hope, dreams, and Jesus Christ our Savior, Love, and Peace!

I'm thankful for... interstate highways, so we could spend our Thanksgiving (and many days throughout the year) with family... Most definitely for ice cream. It is just SO good.... For my two precious sons and Bryan who is so patient... for Downhere & your music most certainly, which has ministered to and lifted up my heart many a time, plus fully rocked... and the INTERNET for letting me do just about everything, including read this blog! :) :) Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for my three sweet little kids and my wonderful husband.

I'm thankful that we never need to worry about having enough food to eat, water to drink or clothes to keep me warm.

I'm thankful that I'm starting to see that I need to make sure others don't have to worry about that either.

I am abundantly thankful for ice cream as well... it has been my good friend all my life and especially the last 6 months! I'm thankful for my cd player with which I can play amazing Downhere music, I'm thankful for my CDs. I'm thankful for the ability to talk to my friends via internet and phone. I'm thankful for my parents and my siblings(all nine of them) along with my nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. I'm thankful that my grandpa is still alive today. I'm thankful that I have a very real relationship with the Living God. This isn't everything I'm thankful for, but the last I will mention is that I'm thankful that God sent his son to die for my sins! Praise God! I am THANKFUL!

I'm thankful for my children--natural born and their beautiful wives. And for miles and miles and miles of safe travel for you two. God is good and his mercies never fail us! (I am also thankful for so many good songs:o)) Love to you both,
Mom xxoo

Happy Thanksgiving! Safe travels this week.

I'm thankful to be spending this week with my entire family (parents, bro, neices and nephews, and a few uncles and cousins). Thanksgiving has always been my family's holiday.

Plus, I thankful for turkey!
