It's seems that these days words are undergoing an even more rapid evolution than I had initially imagined. By now we should all be relatively familiar with the following new definitions:
- sick - to be extremely good, impressive. "That drummer was sick last night, man!"
- phat - pronounced "fat", to be cool. "Those are some phat sunglasses!"
Well, I heard a new one last night from the mouth of a 10 year-old girl. Here's how the conversation went:
Younger Brother: "My friends and I are going to start a band."
Mom: "Oh, that's nice son!"
Older Sister: "Your band is going to sound like crap!"
Mom: "Honey, that's not nice!"
Older Sister: "No, mom - it's a good thing!"
Mom: "What?!?"
Older Sister: "Yeah - you know, CRAP: Christians Reaching All People."
Wow.

Somehow, I doubt that C.R.A.P. will be sweeping the nation anytime soon. As for me, I don't need a quasi-spiritual anagram to justify my saying "crap". Considering all the more offensive words I've given up using since becoming a Christian, I convince myself that God is okay with my use of "crap", and, if I'm really feeling my oats, I have been known to throw in an occasional "freakin'".....and, by the way, I am pretty sure that "phat" has fallen from the nation's collective lexicon to its untimely death, as have the phrases, "Crack is wack", and "Fo' shizzle". May they rest in peace. I love your blog, by the way...I stumbled on it google-ing a Music City Marathon query. I have been a Downhere fan for years. God Bless!

This is my favorite Watercooler Wednesday. Hysterical, a little sobering and on a positive note, quite ingenuous!!

Okay, I feel really out of date now. So much for being relevant. Kids these days!
